Lead Technician

Status: Full-Time l Location: Knoxville, TN

Position Overview: 

The Lead Technician is responsible for the leading and directing of onsite installation resources as well as the flawless installation, commissioning and turnover of completed systems. The Lead Tech will serve as the primary onsite M3 representative tasked with system deployment, on time and under budget, resulting in long-term service maintenance relationships.

Primary Essential Job Duties:

  • Set-up, test, calibrate and commission complete AV/LVC systems based on customer requirements to the M3 standards
  • Maintain appropriate documentation for all jobs as directed by the Project Manager and Installation Supervisor
  • Read and follow base building and electrical blueprints
  • Give technical direction to technicians on customer sites
  • May conduct site surveys
  • Appropriately report any changes or concerns with projects
  • Safety focused
  • Regular and predictable attendance as scheduled.
  • Work cooperatively with others.

Secondary Job Duties:

  • Train customers on systems as needed

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to read and interpret signal flow drawings, wiring diagrams and architectural drawings
  • Ability to work without specific directions including but not limited to preventative maintenance visits, customer site assessment, etc.
  • Ability to completely wire a full-size rack to M3 Standards
  • Ability to setup, test, calibrate and commission complete AV/LVC Systems
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Must be able to pull cable (ex. copper, fiber, coax), terminate connectors, mount/rig equipment and rack construction based on M3 requirements
  • Ability to work in a fast pace culture
  • Travel to various job sites as needed not expected to exceed 30% of time
  • Experience using AV/LVC and Electronic/Electrical hand-tools including but not limited to wire strippers, crimpers, soldering irons, snips, punch tools and power tools
  • Present in a professional manner

Education and Experience:

  • AVIXA CTS Certification required
  • AVIXA CTS-I Certification preferred
  • BICSI and manufacturer certifications a plus, but not required
  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Formal education in Electronics or related field preferred
  • Minimum 1-3 years of installation experience a plus
  • OSHA 10-Hour or 30-Hour Certification Preferred
  • Valid driver’s license with appropriate driving record

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit/stand for prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to use computer for long periods of time
  • Ability to use hand and power tools in a safe and efficient manner
  • Ability to bend, squat and kneel
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to climb ladders
  • Ability to pass drug screen and background check
